Josh Paetzel has announced the availability of the second release candidate for FreeNAS 8.0, a small FreeBSD-based operating system which provides free Network-Attached Storage (NAS) services: "FreeNAS
8.0-RC2 is now available. We introduced an upgrade via the GUI feature
in RC1, so with this release that can be taken advantage of. The ISO
images can be used for new installs, and will also offer to upgrade
existing installs they detect. The compressed xz images are suitable for
the GUI upgrade in RC1, if you are using releases previous to that they
are of no value. GUI firmware upgrades are supported, but due to a bug
in the interaction between FreeBSD, lighttpd, and Python they work
intermittently. There is a workaround which wasn't implemented in time
