Troy Dawson has announced the availability of the second release candidate for Scientific
Linux 6. According to a preliminary roadmap, the final release of
Scientific Linux 6 is expected in the first week of March. From the release announcement: "We
have released the second Release Candidate of Scientific Linux 6. We
are now in a feature freeze and are only fixing bugs. Changed since RC1:
repositories were changed to point to 6.0; Kickstart updated, there are
now minimal, small, all-groups, match-tuv, and everything; scripts
added for customizing product.img and install.img; clean-up of
configuration files; removed Java 1.6.0 OpenJDK plugin, this was removed
to prevent confusion since it was removed by TUV in Java 1.6.0 OpenJDK
updates and according to a Bugzilla entry they expect it to be in 6
Update 1; 'mirrorlists' are now available." Download (only the i386 DVD images are available at this time): SL-6-i386-2011-02-25-Install-DVD.iso (3,508MB, SHA256).
