Files suitable for creating installation media or doing FTP-based installs through the network should be available on most of the FreeBSD mirror sites. For the amd64 and i386 architectures the DVD images have a preliminary set of packages in the ISO files. Unfortunately due to some limitations of the FTP mirroring system we are limited to images no larger than 2 GB so the packages available on the installation media is limited (almost down to just GNOME/KDE).
