A new test build of the distribution which is now built using Daniel Robbins's Funtoo stages and which uses the Entropy package manager and the Sabayon Linux system installer, has been released: "After three and a half years on hold, the VLOS project returns with a new vision for the future. Today we are pleased to introduce the first alpha of what will be our stable VLOS 2.0. It includes countless improvements: based on stages from Funtoo by Daniel Robbins with Linux kernel 2.6.31, GNOME 2.28.1, GCC 4.3.3, glibc 2.9 and X.Org Server 1.7.2; based on Sabayon Linux using Entropy package manager and installer; VLOS is now a live DVD and can be used as a rescue disc; moved from HAL to DeviceKit-power, DeviceKit-disks and udev; includes WINE by default and is able to run supported Windows applications; uses the ext4 file system by default."
